Not all "eco-friendly" products are equal. Learn what BPI, ISO 14855 and FDA food-contact certifications actually mean and why they matter for your business.
Why Certifications Matter
The market is flooded with products claiming to be "eco-friendly" or "compostable". Without independent certification, these claims are unverifiable. Understanding what each certification actually tests for helps you make informed purchasing decisions.
BPI (Biodegradable Products Institute)
BPI certification is the gold standard for compostability in North America. Products must biodegrade in industrial composting conditions within 180 days, leaving no toxic residue. All Naturomate products carry BPI certification.
ISO 14855
ISO 14855 is the international standard for testing aerobic biodegradability. It is the basis for European EN 13432 certification and is widely recognised by procurement teams globally.
FDA Food Contact
FDA food-contact certification confirms that a product is safe for direct contact with food — it won't leach harmful chemicals, even when hot liquids are involved.
